Molecular traceability and supply chain technology: The value of Made in Italy

The traceability of agri-food products aims to guarantee food safety, transparency in the production chain and consumer protection while protecting honest producers from fraud and counterfeiting.

Molecular traceability represents an advanced technology to guarantee the authenticity and quality of Made in Italy products. This technique uses genetic markers and molecular analyses to trace the origin and composition of agri-food products, ensuring that they are actually produced in Italy and according to local traditions. DNA analysis of raw materials and/or finished products allows to certify the geographical origin and varietal characteristics of raw materials.

Molecular traceability can be applied to various sectors, including:

• Wine: Identification of vines and verification of geographical origin.

• Olive oil: Traceability of olives and verification of olive oil purity.

• Dairy products: Identification of bovine breeds and origin of milk.

• Meat: Traceability of animal breeds and breeding location.

But for this powerful resource for the protection of Made in Italy to become an effective tool in the hands of producers and consumers, it must be combined with a secure, robust and inviolable communication tool, easy to use throughout the entire production chain up to transmitting the information to the consumer.

The HD Barcode coding system allows all the information to be contained within the code itself without the need for a connection to a database and/or the use of an internet connection.

Along the supply chain, the information is integrated step by step, with the information from the previous codes added to the next process, creating a code similar to a “block chain” process.

Only those who are authorized can add the data that will make up the supply chain and product certification. The final code, readable via smartphone or other devices and printed on the product packaging, thus makes the packaging a true element of effective communication to protect the company, the product and the consumer.

Correct, coherent, safe, practical and fast communication between producer, certification bodies and consumers with ease of use and low costs. Sequencing the information, starting from the producer of the raw material, to guarantee its origin, authenticity, correct processing and correct distribution. https://youtu.be/hWuiYTckbAo
