In wine, time is never a linear variable. The most compelling transformations do not happen through rupture, but through layering: they settle into the memory and intuition of those who guide them, gradually emerging as expressions capable of conveying a place with a precision that often goes beyond words.
It is within this space—suspended between what has been and what is still becoming—that the path of Livon Winery takes shape today.

More than a declared shift, what emerges is an evolution in progress: a new energy running through places, decisions, and ways of expression.
The arrival of Matteo Livon and his cousin Francesca Livon, Livon family’s third generation, marks a transition that does not break with the past, but reinterprets it with greater awareness—opening the winery to a more dynamic, contemporary dimension, grounded in a renewed relationship with the territory and its community, and a growing openness to visitors from beyond the region.
In this sense, the winery moves beyond being solely a place of production to become a place to be. experienced: an environment where wine is shaped not only through the time of ageing, but also through the time of encounter.
A direction that is already clearly taking form: the new Dolegnano winery stands as the estate’s central hub, where hospitality engages in dialogue with an experimental space dedicated to the most advanced production techniques.

It is here that the estate’s Cru wines—born on the Ruttars hillside, in one of the most highly suited areas of Dolegna del Collio—undergo their ageing process.
At the same time, in the plain area near Palmanova, hospitality at Villa Chiopris is also being renewed. Beyond the historic park that surrounds the villa—offering guests a space of quiet and reflection—the experience unfolds through the discovery of a landscape rich in history and character, telling the story of Friuli not only through wine, but through a fully immersive experience.
Villa Chiopris thus confirms its role as a privileged starting point for exploring a region increasingly investing in its identity, reshaping the tourism profile of Italy’s north-east.
Emblematic of this phase of transformation is the revival of Braide Mate: a tangible vision that reflects Matteo Livon’s relationship with the family estate and its history. As he notes, “it was not simply a revival, but rather a moment of deep reflection on our territory and the varieties that have historically shaped it.”

A considered reinterpretation of a project that once marked a turning point for the estate—laying the foundations for the Livon Gran Cru range—now expressed through a contemporary lens. The return to Chardonnay in its pure form becomes an act of synthesis, intended to convey both the elegance and the power of the Collio.
Braide Mate is a project rooted in the present while looking ahead, without ever losing sight of its origins or identity. It embodies a clear approach to estate management: to recognise what already exists, allow it to reach full maturity, and return it with greater coherence and depth. It stands as a testament to how innovation and identity can coexist without compromise, in a balance that has long defined the Livon style.
More than redefining the estate, this new chapter brings its direction into sharper focus: a place where wine remains an expression of the Collio, while opening to a more shared, collective dimension.
