In 1985, in a pristine valley between the sea and the mountains in the south of Sardinia, Paolo Melis and Enrico Diana founded Bresca Dorada. They were two young students who had decided to abandon city life to devote themselves to agriculture and beekeeping. This work fascinates them, in close contact with nature with its cycles of rest and rebirth and the incessant work of the bees that fly from flower to flower to produce precious honey.
In 1990, as an addition to the beekeeping activity, an agritourism refreshment point was created and for the first time, red myrtle obtained from the infusion of berries and sweetened with honey was proposed.
From a limited quantity of bottles intended to be offered to guests, a production aimed at the market began and Bresca Dorada decided to invest in the creation of a working group and a production structure dedicated to liqueurs.
In this way, production is implemented and addressed not only to the Italian market but also abroad to the niche market of regional peculiarities.
The fundamental concept was to maintain attention to the quality of the products and the artisanal aspect. Continuous curiosity always aimed at research has led to the production of other liqueurs such as Mirto Verde, from young leaves of myrtle; a bitter named Mirtamaro and others based on citrus fruits and prickly pear; followed by jams, juices, and flavoured salts, obtained with the use of fruits and herbs grown spontaneously in the surrounding area.
Inside the land of the company, located in an area of over six hectares, an accommodation facility, Domu Bresca, has recently been built following the dictates of bio-architecture. The nearby golden beaches and crystal-clear sea as well as the surrounding greenery offer the best conditions for an original and pleasant holiday.
