LOGISTICA UNO: NEW OPENING OF DISTRIBUTION CENTRE (CEDI) TO IMPROVE EFFICIENCY AND SERVICE QUALITY

In the era of growing e-commerce and increasingly rapid demands, the opening of new distribution centres plays a key role in supply chain optimisation: centres that are vital nodes for the efficient delivery of goods to consumers, positively influencing the customer experience and contributing to the success of companies.

The opening of new distribution centres enables companies to place their products closer to their target markets. This results in shorter delivery times and optimised logistics operations. By reducing the distance between the product and the end customer, new distribution centres reduce transit times and improve the overall efficiency of the supply chain.

With Logistica Uno, in June of this year, after only a few months of design and development, Pam-RetailPro’s cedi-platform located at the Maddaloni Marcianise (Caserta) South Europe Freight Village, 25,000 square metres (storage capacity of 38,000 pallets), with a rail connection, was born.

Opening a new distribution centre allows the company to distribute its inventory in a more balanced way, reducing the risk of out-of-stocks and enabling more precise management. This is particularly crucial in sectors where demand can vary significantly over time. The goods of this cedi will be delivered to Pam-RetailPro sales points – about 120 – in Campania, Apulia, Abruzzo, Molise and Lazio.

The cedi houses dry goods uniquely for Pam-RetailPro, among the main advantages of the new Distribution Centre highlighted by Sales Director Alberto D’Agostino of Logistica Uno:

“greater operational efficiency: the facility has been designed to optimize the flow of goods and reduce delivery times; a covered area of 25,000 square meters entirely dedicated to Pam’s ‘dry’ category products with a storage capacity of 38,000 pallets, round-the-clock deliveries even at night for a total, to date, of 100 deliveries per day. Highlighting the ability to handle higher volumes: the Cedi is designed to handle increasing volumes of goods, enabling us to meet the demand for our products and services.

An important plus is the improvement of service quality: thanks to software for automated storage of goods so that the fragility index is managed and controlled. Last but not least, we are always looking to reduce our environmental impact: our new facility has been designed with a focus on energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, reducing the impact of our operations on the environment by using rail transport, which is possible thanks to the rail connection attached to the platform”.

Logistica Uno takes care of every aspect on behalf of Pam–RetailPro:

unloading of goods, arrangement, preparation, loading, direct delivery to the points of sale via its own carriers, with vehicles suitable for the purpose (with electric trolley). Also, on behalf of the brand, goods collection (returns) is also carried out directly at the points of sale.

For Logistica Uno this is the first experience in close synergy with a large-scale retail trade sign on the organization and management of a Ce.Di. (for other signs the service provided is transport) “There are two objectives ahead: to support the growth of Pam-RetailPro and at the same time replicate the same activity in the north, where we already have available platforms.

On the other hand, already 80 per cent of the goods we deliver to the cedi already belong to our customers,’ continues D’Agostino.

The opening of the new Distribution Centre represents a significant step in our commitment to offer high quality products and services to our customers. We are confident that this new facility will help us maintain our leading position in the industry and further improve our customers’ satisfaction. The project is ambitious and also looks abroad, where Logistica Uno is already present with intermodal transport.

Logistica Uno: also sustainable in the cedi developed for Pam-RetailPro

“An example of how Logistica Uno not only knows how to work with customers by customising every service for them throughout the supply chain, but how it also manages to combine business with social sustainability, these facilities generate employment of resources that can have a positive impact on the social and economic fabric of surrounding communities. We care a lot about the environment: not for nothing have we been measuring our Carbon Footprint since last year.

A large part of the reduction in environmental impact comes from the use of rail freight, which is a strategic solution for the company. This is all part of the medium to long-term plans of Logistica Uno, which is seeing steady growth in terms of turnover and is increasingly widespread in terms of transport and warehousing of goods” explains the general manager of Logistica Uno Gianluca Cornelli.

In an ever-changing business landscape, companies must be able to adapt quickly to changing customer needs. The opening of new distribution centres offers flexibility, allowing companies to expand their geographical presence in response to market demand, while remaining competitive and ahead of the game.

In conclusion, the opening of new distribution centres is a strategic move that goes beyond the simple handling of goods. They help improve the speed and efficiency of logistics operations, positively influencing the customer experience and the success of the company.

The ability to adapt and the creation of local employment opportunities make these centres a key element in the contemporary economic landscape.
