Equimilk: Mare’s Milk For Health

Frozen raw mare’s milk is something completely new in Italy. Its production is the result of a project that took more than three years to realize the idea of producing mare’s milk for human consumption in order to give a new food opportunity to people with different health issues.

Mare’s milk is closest to breast milk than cow’s or goat’s milk, and it is recommended for newborn children as a substitute for breast milk as well as for individuals with digestive disorders or intolerances.

Today the benefits of mare’s milk on people with chronic skin problems have been shown. It can help in cases of neurodermatitis, atopic skin, acne, eczema and especially psoriasis. Clear improvement was found after only a few days of treatment: the virulence of the skin damage decreases as well as the severe joint pain.

In adult patients, mare’s milk can help to improve some digestive problems, such as gastrointestinal disorders, gastric and duodenal ulcers, chronic gastritis and duodenitis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, diarrhoea and constipation. Due to the high content of lysozyme and lactoferrin, it offers natural protection against viruses and bacteria.

In elderly patients, mare’s milk is recommended as a food supplement for its restorative effect; it acts as a metabolic rebalancer and tonic treatment after debilitating diseases, such as in cases of weak immune defences.
The production of mare’s milk is the result of the collaboration between Equimilk Sas and two Italian social cooperatives: Cooperativa ai Rucc e Dintorni and Cooperativa Sentieri e Verbena Solidali.

The first one deals with addiction recovery and owns the broodmares and the facilities; the second one provides employment for disadvantaged individuals and is in charge of the production and packaging of the mare’s milk, under the supervision of doctor Tatjana Falconi.

The significant social impact of this project makes this product even more precious. It has been on the market for a very short time and has obtained the CE marking, which certifies that the product meets EU safety and health requirements.
