Acelum is love for the territory

A love of good beer was what prompted us to set up the Acelum brewery in 2010. Acelum also expresses what we feel for our region. The brewery stands on the hills of the beautiful city of Asolo, one of Italy’s finest medieval towns, which was defined by Giosuè Carducci as “the city of a hundred horizons”.

Our mission is to produce excellent beer in a context known for its wine-growing culture. There are numerous references to the history of the town, starting from the name of the brewery itself (Acelum is the Latin name for Asolo) and the names we have given to some of our beers, such as Duse, dedicated to the famous Eleonora, and Freya, a tribute to the author Stark.

Whenever possible, our raw materials are supplied by small local farms: for instance, Freya is a blonde beer containing small spelt which is grown at the foot of Monte Grappa, or Do’storieski, a Saison-style white beer, in which ancient Piave grain is used.

The master brewer makes a meticulous selection of raw materials, to ensure that every beer has a well-defined character, while preserving the authenticity of traditional brewing methods. The philosophy of the brewery is to produce low carbonation beers that are easy to drink, like our Anarkica, a Session IPA, or Twenty, a Golden Ale, also produced exclusively from Italian ingredients.

Our crowning achievements are Duse, an English-style red beer and Delizia, a dark Strong Ale of Belgian inspiration. Our latest project is an anti-waste beer, whose production involves the use of stale bread purchased from small local bakers, which would otherwise get thrown away.

They are all prize-winning beers, some of them pluri-awarded. In 2021, Acelum was elected best brewery of the year in the “Best Italian Beer” contest. For anyone wishing to visit our brewery, the outlet is open to the public.
