Another collaboration for the Piedmont-based brewery, recently awarded at the international Brussels Beer Challenge competition, which continues to explore the creative potential of beer: after the wine a partnership with the “Dall’albero all’arte” wood craftsmen
To ring in the cold season, the Della Granda Brewery introduces its Barley Wine, flavoured with cedar wood provided through its collaboration with the “Dall’albero all’arte” carpentry studio.
A beer with a high alcohol content and a full body that combines the sweet and smokey flavours of peated malt with notes of citrus and cedar.
This beer is a product of the brewery’s continuous experimentation and research, bringing together two complementary worlds: those of beer and wood.
As with wine, the art of brewing has used wood for centuries to refine and preserve its products, imbuing them with precious aromas and nuances. The idea of adding cedar wood chips to the wort in order to further flavour it, is a process that is common in wine production, but little explored in the world of artisan beers.
Ivano Astesana, master brewer and founder of Della Granda, had this to say about his latest creation: “We are always on the lookout for tasty recipes that stimulate our creativity and, above all, the taste buds of our clients.
We want to surprise the people who drink our beers, triggering new emotions and almost shocking the palate in order to demonstrate the infinite possibilities of artisan beer, which is a stark contrast to the static and homogeneous nature of industrial beers.
Our Barley Wine is an excellent beer for the winter months which are rapidly approaching, given its full body supported by a generous alcohol content.
We wanted to do something different from last year, collaborating with our craftsmen friends at “Dall’albero all’arte”, masters in woodworking, who provided us with the cedar essence that further enhances our creation. It’s an incredibly aromatic beer that was produced in a single batch of 2700 cans, making it a very rare product!”
In addition to launching the new beer, Astesana and his team are celebrating their recent victory at the 2021 edition of the Brussels Beer Challenge, taking home the silver medal in the Imperial IPA category for their No Mask.
An important achievement that rewards the brewery for its efforts and constant commitment to researching and developing better and better products.
