Slow Wine Fair, the only international exhibition dedicated to good, clean and fair wine, returns for its third edition at BolognaFiere from Sunday 25 to Tuesday 27 February 2024.
It is organised by BolognaFiere and SANA, the International Exhibition of Organic and Natural Products, under the artistic direction of Slow Food, and promotes wines that are the result of sustainable agriculture, aimed at respecting biodiversity, protecting the agrarian landscape, the cultural and social growth of farming communities, and increasing consumer awareness.
The 2023 edition closed in February with a very positive balance: more than 10,000 entries, half of them from the trade, who appreciated the high quality of the wines on offer. 750 wineries were present (+50% compared to the first edition), with more than 100 international producers, especially from France, China and North Macedonia, and 4,000 labels. A selection that met the requirements set out in the Slow Food Manifesto of good, clean and fair wine, the Slow Wine guide and the assessments of a tasting commission, not to mention the role of FederBio with reference to organic wines.
Significant, among the specialised public, was the incidence of the United States, Great Britain, China and Germany. From these countries, with the support of ITA – Italian Trade Agency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, hundreds of buyers also came to BolognaFiere, creating the conditions for exhibiting wineries to access new markets.
Meetings and masterclasses were sold out, and the two new entries of the Slow Wine Fair were no less well attended: in the Fiera dell’Amaro d’Italia area, promoted by Amaroteca and ANADI – Associazione Nazionale Amaro d’Italia, excellent producers told the story of their bitters and their links with local ingredients and recipes, while the pathway among the sustainability partners highlighted innovative technologies, plants, equipment and services connected to the wine supply chain.
