AMORETTI PLC WANTED QUALITY IN LUXURY DISTRIBUTION

Since 1948, the first Italian company specialized in supplying the hotel and catering sector.

Who knows if the Amoretti’s, when towards the end of the nineteenth century they started what, over a century later, would become famous in the world as the Food Valley, their activity of production and trade of cured meats, they imagined, even just for a moment, to have started a real family dynasty and, above all, a tradition that would have grown and developed over time.

The fact remains that behind there had to be a very specific vocation and a love for “good things”, because this is the only way to explain a continuity of approach that has been handed down from generation to generation, going through the economic and social transformations of the end of Nineteenth century and the entire “Short Century”, presenting itself to the new millennium with a fresh and dynamic company that knows how to address a profoundly changed world based on a robust and never forgotten background of traditions and culture.

Today, AMORETTI PLC. food specialties is one of the most important and qualified companies in the sector of selection and supply of food specialties for hotels and restaurants.

Of course, it certainly took a good dose of courage and resourcefulness to bet, in 1948, just after the war, on what the future of the family business would be.The fact is that precisely in that year, when the delicatessen business ceased, the Amoretti’s family specialized in what was an absolutely pioneering activity, at least in Italy: the supply of packaged raw materials to the hotel world.

A winning bet, if we consider that at that time there were about a hundred products distributed, today they are almost ten thousand. The ancient delicatessen has come a long way. And the “patron” Icilio Amoretti, who has been at the helm of the company for over 40 years, still knows how to look ahead. Still enthusiastic about his activity, dynamic, always looking for novelties (and specialties) that are able to broaden horizons.

He tells us about a family deeply rooted in the territory, between Parma, Piacenza and Liguria, of the patriarch Giovanni Battista, by profession “brewer” and grandfather Icilio, the one who opened a delicatessen in Salsomaggiore Terme.

An almost nostalgic eye on this tradition, which had Parma’s excellent products at the center of its trade, such as cured meats and cheese (without forgetting, however, the other family tradition, the Ligurian one, with its flavors and oils).

He tells us about all this, with his now proverbial availability, in front of the “family jewel”, along the Via Emilia in Parola di Noceto, in the province of Parma: the “Trattoria Romanini”, a sort of full “treasure chest” of excellent and delicious specialties, with an adjoining delicatessen and equipped with a refining cellar that will soon be dedicated to the aging of the forms of Parmigiano-Reggiano.

The most important task – he tells us – is the choice of products, which must always maintain an excellent quality level and be tested before reaching the market. The specialties covered range from typical local cold cuts and cheeses, to other Italian regional specialties (oils, cheeses, wines) and to foreign delicacies such as chocolate, desserts, fruit purée, smoked fish, sauces, champagne, spices, fish in oil and foie gras.

The customers of AMORETTI PLC receive a refined quality and above all a service, constant and perfect for their every need, which is provided weekly in every part of northern Italy, as well as in Tuscany, Rome and Sardinia, with a fleet of over 40 vehicles also suitable for transport of frozen products. “We were the first – he points out with right pride – to serve hotels in Italy and most of the products in the portfolio are exclusively distributed, carefully chosen after having tried it repeatedly and allows hoteliers to develop excellent taste and quality performances.
