The first Sardinian producer of potato chips

Terrantica S.r.l. began its activities in the summer of 1995, establishing the first Sardinian company to produce potato chips. Production takes place in a 5,000-square-metre facility located just outside of the region’s capital city of Cagliari.

The personnel is made up of about twenty employees with extensive know-how in the sector, acquired through years of experience and enhanced by specific training in the food industry field. All processes in the facility are predominantly powered by 100% renewable energy.

In addition to the popular CROCCHIAS potato chips, the company also produces and markets the very famous Guttiau bread chips, a traditional Sardinian product derived from the equally famous Carasau bread.

This fried bread snack – seasoned with oil and salt and available in both classic and flavoured versions – is prepared by hand, with a specially designed production line.

The company’s production cycle does not include a “blanching” treatment, a thermal treatment used to “whiten” the chips, making them all look the same and eliminating the individual characteristics and natural differences within the product. We believe that this system not only promotes an erred philosophy, but is also an unsustainable practice in food consumption.

This company choice requires strict quality control of the raw materials, both when purchasing and sorting, selecting only the best ingredients. The recipe uses 100% sunflower oil, sea salt, and no preservatives.

Among the various products available in the catalogue there are:

• Classic line: classic and rustic potato chips

• Savoury line: flavoured potato chips

• Guttiau line: traditional fried bread snack, available in convenient, ready-to-share buckets.

• Snackerie line: extruded products made with flavoured flour (corn puffs, rings, puffed corn balls, etc.)

• Baked line: Pane Carasau
