Kometa: Innovation, quality, and commitment to sustainability

Kometa, a company specialized in processing and marketing pork and poultry meat products, with offices in Hungary and Italy and distribution in more than twenty international markets, presented at Marca an important innovation: the reduction of salt content of 30% vs. the average in the market for the whole portfolio of products.

Kometa is committed to offer products that, beside excellent taste and pleasure for consumers, have to be as healthy as possible, sustainable and affordable: in addition to the 30 percent reduction in salt, all Kometa products are now free of added starch and carrageenan, in addition to being gluten free, dairy derivatives free, glutamate and added polyphosphates free.

The significant reduction in salt quantity – validated by a specific study promoted by Kometa and conducted by the University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo – allows Kometa to pursue the objective of offering the freshest and healthier processed meat products, where the excellence of the raw materials and the full control of the production process, from slaughtering to packing “under the same roof”, guarantees the perfect taste with the lowest contribution of salt and other added ingredient.

The current size of Kometa plant, which employs about 1,000 people, allows every year to slaughter 700,000 pigs, to process 75,000 tons of meat and to produce 17,000 tons of processes products. Direct control of the supply chain, starting with pig farming, combined with the concept of “everything under one roof”, guarantees incomparable quality and freshness of its products, which are intended to be good, healthy, affordable and innovative.

Kometa again this year confirms its commitment to the world of great cycling, sponsoring the Team Polti Visit Malta and being official partner of Giro d’Italia, TirrenoAdriatico and Milano-Sanremo, RCS Sports & Events’ professional sport events dedicated to road cycling. Kometa will also support Biciscuola Educational Project, dedicated to primary school students and aimed to transmitting to the young generations the values of cycling and of doing sport regularly, beside promoting healthy habits,  environmental sensitivity and road education.
