{"id":44637,"date":"2024-04-25T10:33:07","date_gmt":"2024-04-25T10:33:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/allfoodonline.com\/?p=44637"},"modified":"2024-04-25T10:33:08","modified_gmt":"2024-04-25T10:33:08","slug":"vigna-del-generale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allfoodonline.com\/en\/vigna-del-generale\/","title":{"rendered":"Vigna del Generale"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Predappio Alta is an ancient medieval village whose origins are rooted in a small Roman stronghold aiming at controlling the exchange of goods, notably salt which was traded from the salt-works in Cervia to Florence passing the Apennines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The inhabitants of the village only had two ways of making their living in that hill: growing and producing Sangiovese or mining sulfur. The <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/vininicolucci.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nicoluccis <\/a><\/strong>have been growing vines since 1885 and are the standard-bearers of this ancient tradition; the municipal statutes dating back to 1383 show how much attention and care were paid to Bacchus\u2019 trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m a fourth generation wine-maker and to honor the work and sacrifices of those who came before me (\u201cI\u2019ve to remind you it\u2019s not easy to get by just on wine-growing and producing in Romagna, especially in the hills\u201d ) I\u2019ve reached the decision of dedicating a wine to my grand-father Amedeo Nicolucci, who walking once into the Vigna del Generale -the best vineyard in Predappio Alta- thought \u201cI\u2019ve gotta be here\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/allfoodonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/17092015-1L5A8177-1-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-44644\" style=\"width:329px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/allfoodonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/17092015-1L5A8177-1-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/allfoodonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/17092015-1L5A8177-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/allfoodonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/17092015-1L5A8177-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/allfoodonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/17092015-1L5A8177-1-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/allfoodonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/17092015-1L5A8177-1.jpg 2000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My grand-father Amedeo bought the historic General\u2019s vineyard soon after WW1. The owner was indeed a general -a Lieutenant Generalwho was used to hang out in his vineyards escorted by his faithful wolf, a puppy he had found among the vines and raised. (Hence the label &#8230;).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This vineyard is the Grand Cru of my estate: 9 times rewarded with \u201cThree Glasses\u201d by the Gambero Rosso; \u201c4 Vines\u201d by the Italian Association of Sommeliers; 90\/100 on the international Vinitaly 2019 guide, \u201cTop Wine e Vino Slow\u201d Slow wine guide, just to mention a few.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s always been regarded by the old folks in the village as the most suitable soil for growing vines: harsh, poor, where sulfur was once dug.
