Naturally Forno Bonomi Everything starts in Roverè Veronese, a small town 900 meters above sea level, on the edge of the Lessinia Natural Park and close to the Dolomites; surrounded by green hills, the bakery is spread over an area of about 65 thousand square meters and employs over 140 employees, representing one of the leading entrepreneurial businesses of the Lessinia community. The tradition of the Bonomi family has its origins in the mid- 1800s when at Velo Veronese the first “simple” oven was opened for the production of bread. Over time however, the passion for desserts grew, and around 1950, Umberto Bonomi, head of the family which now leads the company gave a major boost to the activity. His business idea was continued by his sons who, in the early seventies, started the current bakery at Roverè Veronese.
Recent history shows a modern company with a turnover of 45 million Euros a year, the biggest producer worldwide of ladyfinger biscuits, great on their own but also essential for a countless number of Italian desserts and much more. With 65 per cent of production exported, the target market of Forno Bonomi is in fact the world, which is above all thanks to having known over the years, how to combine the ancient production methods, typical to the traditional local sweets, with the most modern technological systems. The bakery is also equipped with a laboratory that performs careful monitoring and analysis at all stages of the production process, from the delivery of the raw ingredients to the finished product.
In fact, the company has achieved the quality system certification and is also adjusting its business system to the new version of ISO 9001: 2000. Thanks to its high results since 2006, the company has acquired international standard certificates IFS (International Food Standard), Brc – Gsfs (Global Standard for Food Safety) and more recently for the production of organic and Halal products. These standards, wanted in particular by German and English retailers, meet the need of large worldwide retailers to certify its suppliers for security aspects for health and hygiene, quality and regulatory compliance.
