Acqua Minerale Calizzano: design and partnerships for the premium market

by Pier Paolo Gallea
Marketing Director of Acqua Minerale Calizzano

Premium positioning in the mineral water sector increasingly combines product quality, distinctive design and strong brand collaborations. Acqua Minerale Calizzano has strengthened this approach through its Vesta and Pin Up lines, targeted partnerships and significant investments in bottling technologies. Pier Paolo Gallea, Marketing Director, explains the company’s strategy and outlook for the premium segment.

What distinguishes the Vesta and Pin Up lines in today’s mineral water market?

Vesta and Pin Up stand out thanks to their elegant design, conceived to enhance the presentation of water on the table. Vesta features a refined silhouette and a metallized polypropylene label that differentiates it from bottles typically found in large-scale retail.

Its preform contains 30 percent recycled plastic and weighs 17.2 grams, helping preserve the organoleptic qualities of the water while making the bottle more rigid and ergonomic for consumers.

Pin Up, available in 700 ml and 400 ml glass formats, was created specifically for the HoReCa sector and has become a recognizable presence in fine dining and high-end restaurants thanks to its distinctive design and metallic label.

How do collaborations with Camatti and Fabbri strengthen your brand identity and market presence?

During the 2025–2026 period we have strengthened partnerships with several local and national brands that share our values in terms of quality and supply chain respect. For example, Fabbri selected our water for its exceptional organoleptic characteristics, which perfectly match the high standards the company requires for its own products.

Camatti, on the other hand, chose our soft drinks produced according to the original 1961 recipe, made only with sugar and without sweeteners or artificial additives. Our orange and grapefruit sodas contain 20 percent fruit juice, allowing them to retain their authentic product identity. In the near future we are also planning a new mixology collaboration related to our sparkling water.

What role do the new bottling plants play in terms of efficiency, quality and sustainability?

Over the past five years we have implemented a major investment plan. In 2022 we installed a new glass bottling line supplied by Krones with an investment of more than six million euros. It is currently a unique solution in Europe. In 2025 we also renewed the entire PET bottling system with an investment of around four million euros. These latest-generation technologies reduce energy consumption by more than 30 percent while increasing productivity and maintaining employment levels.

Sustainability is also supported by a photovoltaic system installed on the roofs of our Calizzano plant, which covers about 70 percent of our energy needs, while the remaining electricity is sourced from renewable energy.

What are your next strategic priorities in the premium segment?

Since the Pin Up line has recorded strong growth and appreciation in its market segment, our priority is to support distributors through targeted marketing strategies aimed at enhancing both the product and their business.

At the same time, we believe that relationships within the local territory remain a fundamental strategic element for sustainable growth. Building strong connections with institutions, companies and communities encourages knowledge sharing, innovation and collaboration, creating a favourable environment for long-term development.

With a strong focus on design, product quality and technological investment, Acqua Minerale Calizzano continues to strengthen its position in the premium mineral water segment. At the same time, partnerships with selected brands and a close connection with the local territory remain key elements in supporting the company’s long-term growth and market presence.
